Work completed: Early May 2011

Upgrading the forecourt fronting the entrance to Napier Library has created a more user-friendly and attractive paved area with better separation from vehicle traffic on Station Street.

The project saw existing bollards and steps removed and wing walls, topped with garden beds, formed to screen off a semi-enclosed courtyard and better define access for pedestrians using the library and the Civic Building.

While much of the existing paving remains, an area of pattern is a new feature in the courtyard area.

Bench seats enhance the forecourt’s use as an outdoors meeting spot and an area suited to al fresco musical productions, book readings and library displays.
