    Go To Top Of Page5. What do the tools do?

        Zoom-In: Select this tool and click on the map to zoom in. The map will also centre on where you have clicked. You can also drag a box around an area of interest and zoom directly to that area.
        Zoom-Out: This tool will zoom the map window out. Select the tool and click on the map. You can also drag a box on the map to zoom out faster (the small the box the faster the zoom out).
        Recentre: This tool recentres the map. Select the tool and then click on the map where you want the map centre to be.
        Pan: This tool allows you drag the map. Click the tool and drag the map in the direction you wish to move. The map will move over other items on the screen, this is normal, it will go back to normal when you release the mouse.
        Information: This tool returns information about select items. Simply select this tool and click on items of interest in the map. You can also drag a box around multiple items of interest.
        Unselect: This tool removes the current selection.
        Measure: This tool allows you to measure distances. Double click to stop measuring.
        Print: This tool will create an A4 print of the current map.
        PDF: This tool will create an A4 PDF of the current map.

    • The CRS database from Land Information New Zealand is updated every three months. Even though we update our data every three months, some changes in the CRS may not show for up to six months after they are made. Information maintained be the Napier City Council is updated every day.
    Go To Top Of Page7. Will this work on my PDA or Smartphone?
    • To use this service on you PDA or Smartphone, your device needs to have an internet connection and a web browser. The URL for your device is http://maps.napier.govt.nz/pocket.php. We have found some issues with navigating Blackberry devices.
    Go To Top Of Page8. How do I use the street find?
    • To find a street, please type just the street name (e.g. 'Guppy', 'Guppy Ro', or 'Guppy Road' NOT 'Guppy Rd'), and click the 'Find Street' button. The finder will zoom to the first instance of the road name it finds. If your search returns the wrong street (e.g. 'King' returns 'King Road'), then try the full road name (e.g. 'King St' returns 'King Street'). If your search cannot be found, you will be zoomed to Napier. To search areas outside Napier, change the 'Quick Find' selection to the area you require. This tool also work for addresses within Napier.

    • This site uses JavaScript for most of the tools. If you have JavaScript disabled, then the tools will not work. Please make sure JavaScript is allowed for this site. This site has been tested with Mozilla FireFox 2.0, Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 and 7, and Opera 9.
    Go To Top Of Page11. What do the ADVANCED OPTIONS do?

      Always Search NCC Property Layer: When this option is selected, MapServer will also qsearch the NCC property data with any query that is performed. The results of the property search will always be at the top of any returned data, this search will work even if the NCC Property Layer is not available in the map.
      Store the Map setting between sessions: When this option is selected, MapServer will store the last used Map in the cookie on your PC. When you next visit this site, MapServer will load the last map you used.
      Store the Window Extents between sessions: When this option is selected, MapServer will store the co-ordinates of the map window on your computer. When you next visit, MapServer will automatically zoom to the last place you visited.
      All of these settings are stored in a cookie on your PC. If you delete this cookie (or disable cookies), then these options will not work.
